I purchased this coin raw on Ebay. Subsequently, I submitted it to PCGS. They graded it AU50 and attributed it Two Feathers variety. I have several other 1916 2F varieties, all purchased raw on Ebay. One of these grades about the same as this one but is a later die state coin. One of the images below is of this coin. The 1916 2F is not a difficult variety to find unattributed.

The 1916 Two Feather is a “pure” 2F. There are at least three pairs of abraded dies with the third feather completely […]

I obtained the 1915 2F imaged above in a trade with a fellow collector. It is in a PCGS VF35 slab. I have found an unattributed 1915 2F on Ebay, but it has a hint of a feather and only grades about VF20. I have not submitted it to PCGS for attribution.

The 1915 Two Feather can be a “pure” 2F, with the third feather entirely abraded. The PCGS coin above is such an example. The area of the abraded feather is not as “smooth” as on the 1913-D 2F. The abrasion marks […]

1913-D Type I Two Feathers FS-401 38429

I found this coin on Ebay in an NGC MS63 slab. I broke it out of the slab and submitted it raw to PCGS. It came back MS64 and attributed as a Two Feather variety.

The 1913-d T1 Two Feather is not a “pure” 2F. On examples I’ve seen, the feather is mostly but not entirely missing. Sometimes you have to tilt the coin just right to see the “island” of still raised metal. Sometimes at a specific angle you can even see the outline of a somewhat reduced third feather. However, […]
